WHICH SIDE OF THE BED DO YOU SLEEP ON?

My Home

Have you ever noticed we all have our favourite side of the bed, but does that really matter? Let’s find out.

How can something as negligible as choosing the side of the bed or facing or not facing the wall can actually define a person’s characteristics? Well, it may, according to many researches and surveys conducted in the recent past. Picking your side of the bed not just involve your behavioural aspects but also tells a lot about your habits, emotions and relationships. According to the study from OnePoll, our preference for where we sleep tends to correlate with our personality traits.

We all may agree to the fact that our lifestyle is dominated by habit and routine. Just like how you wake up and effortlessly move towards the kitchen for a perfect cup of coffee or go to the washroom without a second thought. For each small involuntary activity, we perform in a day, our brain is the powerhouse to control all the commands. Similarly, seldom we notice that we do have a particular sleeping ritual and definitely our favourite side of the bed. And if you are interested to know what your side of the bed suggests about you, find your answers in these possible questions.

Do you like sleeping towards the wall side?

No matter what, you cannot give up the wall side of the bed to anyone. You strongly feel that you belong to that side of the bed and might have argued with your partner for not letting you sleep there. If this is you, chances are you look for surety and comfort in your life. People who tend to sleep towards the wall generally do it to feel protected and safe. According to several studies conducted, it has also been proved that people sleeping in that direction are usually late risers. Well, do you snooze your alarm often?

Do you sleep on the side closer to door?

You are a happy-go-lucky person and one from the extroverts’ lot. While there can be many factors which may trigger you always to choose the side which is closer to door, one of the most common one is, that you have quick access to the washroom. The reason sounds practical enough exactly like your personality. You are a person with a straight mindset and usually wake up in a merrier mood. Another reason for you choosing the open side of the bed is so that you don’t feel claustrophobic.

Do you choose the side closest to the window?

For all the early birds, you may relate to how relaxing and comforting it is to sleep on the side closest to the window. Also, you ensure there is enough room for you to lay down and dream while facing the clear sky and green trees. You love to receive the first ray of sunlight, and the fresh air every morning. And we know that you ask for the same even while travelling. No, we won’t judge you.

If you just stick to the left or right no matter what the alignment of bed is.

Interestingly, many studies have suggested that a larger percentage of men choose to sleep on the right side of the bed while women tend to sleep on the left side of the bed. It may be related to authority and sense of responsibility but ‘left’ or ‘right’ side of the bed is also determined by many other factors. Some of the very practical reasons of what side you may choose are the availability of plug-in sockets, the noise outside, temperature etc. Above all, who would have thought that there is so much science attached to the side of the bed we choose to sleep on.
