September marks the beginning of a new season for fashion. As the four sartorial capitals of the world gear up for the fashion-packed month, it’s time to build your 2016 Fall wardrobe. We did the homework for you and decoded F/W 2017’s most wearable trends from New York, Paris, London and Milan. Here are key statement pieces to invest in for the season ahead
Bomber Jackets
Looking for the perfect outerwear for the cold season ahead? Not too heavy, nor too light, a bomber is just ideal. Google’s data report for the “most searched” fashion trends of 2016 has already termed it “the rising star”, with its basic yet smart appeal. Wear it oversized or with sleeves rolled up, get one in black or go wild with colourful embroidered details; the bomber will become your go-to layering piece. Pair it with ripped denim or sleek pants; either way it is sure to raise your street style cred.
Metallic Skirts
A lustrous metallic skirt can be your alternative to cocktail dresses. During the day, style it with simpler minimalist garments like an oversized sweater and mules. Alexa Chung, Rita Ora and Solange Knowles have already given a thumbs up to the trend. If gold and silver seem too cliché, try copper shades or even jewel tones like amethyst and emerald.
Wide-leg Pants
High-waisted or low-slung; wide-leg, flared pants flatter every body type as they lengthen your legs and fit well at the waist. It is important to balance the flared silhouette at the bottom so don’t opt for bulky blouses. Wear ankle-length trousers with a silk camisole and a cropped jacket for a night out and update your boardroom wardrobe with a wide-leg bold pantsuit.
Cropped Sweater
If the oversized trend is not for you, try the cropped sweater instead. Style it with a high-waist pencil skirt or layer it over a basic white shirt; it will lend a carefree look to your everyday essentials. To give it a more fashion-forward look than Cher Horowitz’s in 1995’s ‘Clueless’, try a boxy silhouette.
Mules
Polished mules define effortless chic. Comfort is the new buzzword in fashion and these heeled versions of ‘pool sliders’reflect the same. Look for one in block heels and pair it with culottes or a midi dress; mules add sophistication and structure to your outfit.
Be ahead of the game and include these in your wardrobe right away! Which one would you get first
