Apart from Holi being the most colourful and vibrant one, there are many other festivals around the world – from the dazzling carnivals to the festival of coloured lights – which are vibrant, bright, and full of beautiful colours. To our dismay, we might have not even considered them yet. But don’t worry you still have a chance to live up these global fests and to tick the adventure of colours off your travel list, we have bought five Holi-like must-see festivals around the globe which you should witness at least once in your life. Get into the groove of these spectacular celebrations from different cultures that provide an absolute incredible sight to watch.

Rio de Janeiro Carnival, Brazil
Ready to experience the greatest show on earth? Every year in February and March, a wave of party fever spreads throughout Rio de Janeiro. In this super energetic carnival, you can witness unifying beats of the steel bass drums and blast of colourful quirky outfits. At Rio de Janeiro Carnival, you’ll also get to experience some of the world’s most dazzling parades. All that is required from you is to wear the fanciest of evening gowns or elegantly expensive costumes and get into the street along with the gargantuan and extravagant crowd.

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, New Mexico
As several hundreds of colourful hot-air balloons rise together at the Fiesta Park, it indeed becomes an astonishing sight to watch. There is something magical in this festival of balloons, where you’re sure to capture some of the most memorable photographs. Walk around the launch field to see the hot balloons getting ready and then gaze up in the air to see the colourful orbs amongst the clouds. Are you up for the festival of ballooning?

Then La Tomatina Festival in Spain is a yearly occurrence where you can fulfil your childish fetish. And indeed, you’ll find thousands of people in the town indulging in the messiest food fight ever (all in fun). So, what are you waiting for? Book your tickets to Spain: Jump, squash, and paint it all red! And yes, do plan your outfit before because this festival gets real messy.

Harbin International Ice Festival, China
Get lost in the maze of ice buildings, coloured in dozen hues. Imagine huge colourful castles from your fantasy books or larger than life sculptures all built with ice. During the Harbin International Ice Festival, a whole neighbourhood is developed in a full-size ice wonderland illuminated by light displays. Whether you choose to ride down a giant ice slide or walk inside the colourfully lit ice castles, fun and excitement at this Chinese festival is guaranteed.

Lantern Festival, Taiwan
During the first full moon night of the lunar year, people of Taiwan come out of their homes to celebrate the most auspicious day in Taiwanese calendar – the festival of Lantern. And in the small hillside town of Pingxi, you can be the part of the most breathtaking tradition, where thousands of sky lanterns are released to heaven. The sky explodes with the cacophony of bright-lit colours and you too can choose to release your lantern which will carry your wish into the night sky. Get your cameras ready!
