Design student turned businesswoman, Daniëlle Cathari is creating a storm with her fashion inventions and yet again she has lent her creativity to the three-striped brand Adidas. Taking inspiration from the worn-in, vintage Adidas tracksuits, the Dutch designer has played with cuts, contrasts, feminine and masculine codes, and overlaps to create a modern yet sophisticated FW19 collection for the activewear giant – the collection is so upside down that you can wear this activewear wardrobe to your office without even batting an eyelid.

The young mind behind | The 24-year-old designer’s interest in activewear isn’t a very recent story but rather inspired by wearing Adidas garb right from her childhood. But she catapulted into the fashion spotlight when her collaboration with Adidas Originals debuted during fall 2018 New York Fashion Week and it was a sure success.

Tailored finish | Those ribbed tank tops, melange grey sweatsuits, and tailored sporty suits are crafted from fine-finish Adidas fabrics giving the collection more mileage but what makes it more appealing and subtle is the washed colour palette. Each masterpiece of Cathari’s collection is detailed with a paintbrush effect on the three stripes and draping elements on dresses. We, perhaps, can call it a ‘grown-up’ version of streetwear clothing. But what’s certain is its resonation with the feel of work from home and appropriation with the growing culture of home offices; the workwear by Cathari is thus placed in its natural context.
