Rihanna Shares First Look at Her Luxury Clothing Line in T Magazine

Earlier this month we told you the big, big news: Rihanna became the first black woman to launch a luxury fashion brand with LVMH. Well, now we have the first look at Fenty and its killer threads, sunglasses, shoes, and other accessories. So far, it's even better than we expected. In a new story for T magazine, Rihanna wears clothes from the collection for the first time (that we know of), and tells the mag all about her inspiration behind the line.

"I use myself as the muse," she says. "It’s sweatpants with pearls, or a masculine denim jacket with a corset. I feel like we live in a world where people are embracing every bit of who they are. Look at Jaden Smith, Childish Gambino. They dare you to tell them not to." The collection features traditionally feminine colors with a masculine edge, playing with suits and dresses in textiles including cotton canvas, denim, and leather. And there are corsets in items you wouldn't expect, because Rihanna loves corsets. "We put a corset in a suit, a dress, a shirt, a denim jacket, and a T-shirt dress," she says.

Rihanna designed the line with curves in mind. In the September 2018 issue of British Vogue, she told the magazine she's "thicc now" and more relatable. "It just changed how I dress in terms of my proportions," she explains now to T. "You wear what looks good on you and that’s it. I’m thick and curvy right now, and so if I can’t wear my own stuff then, I mean, that’s not gonna work, right? And my size is not the biggest size. It’s actually closer to the smallest size we have: We go up to a [French size] 46. We’re saying we can meet you at any one drop that we put out." Though it's important to note, the collection only goes up to what's equivalent to about a US size 14.
