DESIGNER KITCHENS: THE HOTTEST DECOR TREND THIS SEASON

Spaces

Fendi, Gucci & Moda Operandi bring home glamour

Fashion and home decor share two critical features at their core: textile and design. It is no wonder then that everyone from Diane Von Furstenberg to Vera Wang has brought us offerings for the home. While Hermes launched a full collection of homeware in 2011, Armani entered the game as far back as 2000.

However, most of these selections have only extended to our living or bedroom spaces, leaving the poor old kitchen friendless in this world of haute couture! This year, Fendi, Gucci and Moda Operandi are making strides in tableware. Below, our review of their offerings, tailor-made for culinary magic:

Fendi Cucine
Fendi's move into our kitchens comes as no surprise after the success of their Fendi Casa homeware. This year, the fashion powerhouse teamed up with kitchen design company Scic to launch their inaugural collection, Fendi Cucine, at Salone del Mobile 2018 in Milan. The luxury collection is a seamless combination of Fendi’s designer DNA and the professional prowess of Scic. Much like Fendi’s range of couture, the two models showcase the yin and the yang - Ginger and Kurkum - designed for feminine or masculine sensibilities.

The Ginger model is characterised by a delicate combination of Calacatta Gold marble, copper bronze metal and Canaletto wood. In contrast, Kurkum channels the spirit of industrial chic with different stainless steel finishes in ‘Metan Gun’, ‘Satin Peltrox’ and ‘Titaniox’.

Gucci
We have an all new range of home decor to swoon over, courtesy Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele. The opulent and eclectic range includes cushions, candles, furniture, and for your kitchen in particular - a collection of trays, foldable tables and wallpaper to elevate any space! Sporting the fashion houses' iconic animal motifs and patterns, the intricately embroidered prints and vibrant palette create a collection that manages to reflect the decadence of a bygone past whilst simultaneously setting new trends.

Add a couple of these chairs to your breakfast nook, or bring out their ever-chic metal trays for parties on your lawn for a touch of everyday luxury.

Moda Operandi
The platform that we love to shop on for all our fashion requirements straight off the runway launched a range of homeware this year: Moda Operandi Home. "It was always in the works for the business, but I knew it was our moment when clients started making enquiries into the tea service at our showroom on Madison," says co-founder Lauren Santo Domingo.

Moda Operandi's Home edit includes exclusive collaborations with luxury interior brands DeGournay, Lobmeyr and D’Ascoli, with pieces also commissioned from ready-to-wear designers like Luisa Beccaria and The Elder Statesman.
