Traditionally reserved for wedding trousseau in India, Designers across the globe gave endless inspiration to wear tulle everyday| Our styling tips
From the most stunning voluminous ball gowns to graceful lehengas, one fabric that designers have experimented with time and again is Tulle. This is a lightweight mesh net fabric, made out of natural fabrics such as silk, nylon or even cotton.
Tulle ruled the runway for S/S 2017 | from Dior’s romantic gowns to Chloe’s youthful skirts. Rochas, on the other hand, created some sharp evening dresses in tulle for their S/S 17 show. On the home front too, Tulle made it to some of the most prestigious runways. While Manish Malhotra’s Couture ‘16 show saw many embellished tulle gowns, Gaurav Gupta remained loyal to his avant-garde aesthetic and presented some delectable ball gowns in this fabric.
Styling | It’s not just the runways. Tulle is making its way into our closets too. It is perfect for summers and can be worn in a variety of ways. You can always count on a simple tulle skirt for brunch. Wear it with skinny denim and a crop top to make a statement. Voluminous tulle skirts are not just Carrie Bradshaw’s signature. While heading for a formal lunch meeting with your colleagues, pick up a sexy black tulle skirt and pair it with a funky satin shirt. Complete the look with pointed pumps and you are sorted. For evening wear, tulle is nothing less than perfection. Pick up a tulle dress and cinch it at the waist with a statement belt. And your evening fashion vocab. just got fancier.
Accessorize | While styling a tulle look, make sure you do not over-accessorize. Outfits made in tulle exude a delicate and luxurious feel. Minimal accessorizing will suffice. Go for statement slim belts with dresses, tasteful minimal jewelry such as a diamond ring or tear drop earrings would do. Stick to mini clutches and sexy heels. Avoid anything too loud or oversized. An oversized bag or a belt is a big no. Tulle is a fabric that can easily accentuate your demure look; hence over-experimenting with accessories is not suggested.
