Fashion

Upgrade your liquid lipstick this September with these collectables curated by Ashley Longshore

A long-wear liquid lipstick has become a staple for every woman’s makeup bag and Maybelline’s Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick is the leading must-have that we swear by to see us through everything from salad dinners to some burger chomping. The fan favourite lipstick has got the most artistic upgrade from Ashley Longshore, a respected Louisiana-based artist whose work focuses on pop-culture, Hollywood glamour, American consumerism, and is widely known for her lively portraits. Yes, it’s yet another exciting Collab of the year!

Longshore believes that makeup and art both are great ways to express oneself and there’s no brand which captures the imagination of ‘pop’ like Maybelline, and we agree! Probably that’s why Maybelline has come out with a limited-edition collection of Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick shades that highlight the bold aesthetic of renowned artist Ashley Longshore. Longshore has collaborated with Maybelline New York on three lip kits consisting of six collectable lipsticks - each of the lipsticks’ sleeve is designed in the artist’s eccentric prints and undoubtedly takes the fancy packaging to another level.

The lip kits which will be available across stores in September feature inks with attitude named the Loyalist (a pale pink nude), Dreamer (a lovely natural pink), Believer (a strong berry purple), Pioneer (a classic deep red), Visionary (a lighter day purple), and Artist (a brave magenta). Although what's on the inside matters the most, beautiful packaging like such never hurts. All these beautiful shades packed as portable art come in unique patterns created by Longshore conjured in cartoons, bold statement text, dainty drawings, loud colours etc.

The artist hopes that people find synergies of self-expression between art and makeup by using this range to empower themselves. We can’t wait till September for art to meet attitude! Which shade are you going to grab?
